#GetWellMichelle continues!  Have you been seeing some of the delicious recipes that we’ve been sharing?  I do hope that you’ve gone to her blog and found some delicious recipes of your own to make.  She truly does have many on her blog A Dish of Daily Life.

This is the second recipe I made.  I wanted something super quick and delicious to make for any night of the week.  We had this one scheduled for Saturday, but wound up having dinner with Dad and R.  So, it was bumped to Sunday, which is fine.  This Italian Sausage Bow Tie Pasta can be made any night of the week.  I promise!

So, if you’re a new reader to my blog, you might not know that bow ties and I have a love hate relationship.  Maybe I haven’t discussed this before.  But I have a love hate relationship with bow tie pasta.  I love it.  But it hates to actually cook without falling completely apart and doesn’t even look like bow ties anymore.  Does this happen to you?

I probably tried cooking them at least 3 times before I simple gave up.  There are other shapes of pasta that I’d rather use.  Like cavatappi in my exploding mac n cheese.  That’s one of my favorite shapes of pasta!  We use penne a lot; almost as much as macaroni.

Next fave is probably gamelli.  It’s similar to cavatappi, but a little more dense.  I used that in my delicious four cheese mac n cheese I made recently.  It has all those nooks and crannies to hold that delicious cheese.

I make a lot of mac n cheese apparently.  But that’s not all bad is it?

Then there’s rigatoni.  LOVE me some riggies.  We usually have those, penne, and macaroni in the pantry along with long skeds like angel hair, linguine, and thing spaghetti.  I have some pappardelle that I haven’t tried yet.  I should.

I’m particular about my pasta shapes.  I rarely, if ever, purchase full on spaghetti.  It’s always thing, angel hair, or capellini.  My short pasta choices are usually penne, cavatappi, small shells, radiator (because that’s fun to say), and or straight up ronis.

And then there’s lasagna.  I’ve only made three recipes with my own recipe.  I should remedy that.  As much as I love lasagna, I really should come with some other versions.  Maybe a red pepper one?  Some chicken Florentine?  Who knows.  Just … more than three.

Man.  Did I go on a tangent with pasta!!  As long as I come back to this delicious and easy recipe from A Dish of Daily Life, it’s all good!!

I kicked things off with her delicious Easy Crab Dip Recipe.  Yes it is that easy.  And it’s OH SO delicious.  It’s definitely a recipe that will stay in the rotation for nibbles, parties, or appetizers with the family.

I’m back with a second recipe.  There are so many to choose from!  Michelle has tons of recipes from appetizers to main dishes to desserts.  There’s definitely something for everyone on her blog.  I hope you head over to A Dish of Daily Life to find some new family faves.

I think this will be a new family favorite!  This was dinner on Sunday.  The hubs threw me for a loop!  I don’t think I’ve ever heard the hubs say that we can have this again.  This recipe is that delicious!

And so very simple and not very hands on or require a lot of prep.  You boil some pasta.  Cook some onions.  Make mini meatballs out of the sausage and cook those.  Add the sauce and cream and simmer.  Then add some spinach.  Voila!  Dinner!  It’s really simple.  But OH so delicious.  Honestly.

I had it for lunch twice.  TWICE.  And savored every bit of it.  The sausage was perfect with the sauce and spinach.  I used a turkey sausage because that’s how we roll.  Low fat and healthier for us.  But I can tell you, this dish is very rich and delicious no matter what kind of sausage you use.

Italian Sausage Pasta

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp of olive oil
  • 1/2 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 lb of Italian sausage
  • 5 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 24oz. jar of Ragu Marinara sauce
  • 1 cup Half & Half
  • 5 cups cooked bow tie pasta
  • 3 handfuls of spinach

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, sauté the onion on medium-low heat for about 10 minutes until it softens.
  2. While the onions are cooking, remove the casing from the sausage and form small meatballs.
  3. Add the meatballs to the onion, increase the heat to medium and cook for about 5 minutes. (The meatballs don’t need to be cooked through at this point, as they will cook further in the sauce).
  4. Add the garlic to the meatballs, cook for 1 minute and then add Marinara sauce, Half & Half and pasta. Stir everything together, cover with tight lid, reduce the heat to medium-low again and cook for about 15 minutes.
  5. Add the spinach to the pasta, stir and turn off the heat. Let it rest with the lid on for 5 minutes before serving.
  6. Serve with fresh chopped parsley or Parmesan cheese.

    1. It was delicious! I love that the recipe calls for rolling the sausage into little meatballs. Makes them bite sized and even more delicious.
