Can you believe that pre-season football has started already? I can’t either. Where has summer gone!? Not that I mind it going away so quickly. Don’t get me wrong! I will not miss it when it finally goes away for the year. I’m a total cold weather person.   I love wearing sweatshirts and sweaters, keeping the windows open at night, and watching FOOTBALL! In our house, we watch both college and pro football. To be honest, I enjoy the college more than the pro. It’s a game with less drama that the pro games. That’s just my opinion.

It’s not going to stop me from watching the games on Sunday as we catch up on weekend chores and tasks. AND it’s not going to stop me from making nibbles for watching the game.

Oh yeah, baby! I LOVE me some game day nibbles!

Who doesn’t right? Chicken wings, nachos, chips, dips, and SLIDERS! All these can feed a few or a large crowd easily.  Just downsize or up size the recipe as needed.  Feeding friends during game time can’t be simpler.   And for us, the choice is simple with ground beef for this recipe.  I cannot stress enough how amazingly flavorful their beef is.  Their beef has to meet 10 quality standards.  TEN!  They range from marbling to fat thickness to visual appearance.

And let me tell you, their steaks look drool worthy fresh out of the package.  When you put one of their quality steaks next to a USDA Prime or other high-quality steak you can see the difference.  There’s just no comparison.   Their ground beef is no exception.

The flavor and quality matches that of their steaks.  Just imagine THE BEST hamburger you’ve ever eaten.  Now, think of THE BEST steak you’ve ever eaten.  Now, marry those two memories in your mouth and you have Certified Angus Beef ® brand ground beef.

I keep saying that because that’s the first thing out of the hubs’ mouth after taking a bite of one of their steaks.  Ever since then we’ve been spoiled and cannot truly enjoy any other type of steak.  I’m not kidding.  There’s no way I could make this up.   We’re truly spoiled.

So much so that we will brave 95S, in the middle of summer and vacation traffic, to drive the 41 miles round trip to our local Weis Market.  It’s worth it to purchase steak, London broil, and other Certified Angus Beef ® brand products.  The last few times we’ve been down there, the traffic has been HORRENDOUS!  Seriously.  JUST.STOPPED for no reason can see because the back up is that long.  That’s dedication for ya!

That’s why we always stock up while we are there because we never want to run out of Certified Angus Beef ® brand products.  The last time we were at Weis we bough London broil, which I LOVE to grill, some skirt steak for fajitas, and stew meat for later on this fall.  It helps to have a vacuum sealer, too!

    1. I would make the meat filling before hand and then heat it up on game day, but the bread might get a bit soggy if you assemble the whole thing to far ahead.

  1. I made these sliders for lunch today. I had most of the stuff just picked up some slider buns and provolone cheese. Didn’t read whole ingreadients list so I didn’t use beef broth. Instead after the meat cooked with the Worcestershire sauce I added a little water, flour and tomato bullion I had to thicken. I also only used mushrooms b/c my husband doesn’t eat onions or peppers. I spread the sautéed mushrooms over 1/2 of the sliders and they were the 1st to go! Saved a few for my son for when he gets home from school. Love this recipe!

    1. You sound just like me! I sometimes fail to read the whole recipe or ingredients and wind up making something similar. I’m just thrilled you stopped by and like my recipe enough to make it for you family. And thrilled they enjoyed it!

  2. I made these last night for a wine and dip party. They went over wonderfully! Everybody loved them. Only changes I made was only a tablespoon of butter to brush the tops. Everyone notice the tops were crisp. Highly recommend this recipe
