Tilapia in Mustard Cream Sauce

December 21, 2009

Click here for recipe Cooking Light, June 2005 This last bag of frozen tilapia I got from BJ's has a taste I'm not too fond of, so I'm trying to find recipes that will mask the flavors. This worked well. It was pretty good, too! The sauce is very rich, with the heavy cream. Now I have most of a container that I don't know what to do with, but I'm sure I'll figure something out. I think I would add more thyme, or even tarragon. A tarragon mustard cream sauce would be really good with the … [Read more...]

Tilapia with Sherry-Mushroom Sauce

July 4, 2009

Click here for recipe Cooking Light, January 1999 So, to finish up the flounder we have in the freezer, I made this with it instead of tilapia. I had to cut the recipe down as I was only going to make one portion. Due to the new schedule, I have to make all fish recipes as a single serving. It's going to be a PITA in the long run I'm sure. There wasn't as much of a sherry taste to the sauce as I thought there would be. I will add more next time I make this. It would be a good sauce for … [Read more...]

Sautéed Tilapia with Honey-Scallion Dressing

February 27, 2009

Sautéed Tilapia with Honey-Scallion Dressing recipe Cooking Light, AUGUST 2006 I wasn't too sure about this, but it was pretty good once we made it. We did not serve it over lettuce. We made the garlic ginger rice (already reviewed) and added the green giant Asian vegetable steamer medley. It was really good!! I was skeptical with the honey and what not, but it was mighty tasty and I probably will make it again. Measuring cups and spoons Knife Cutting board Large nonstick … [Read more...]

Pan-Seared Tilapia with Citrus Vinaigrette

June 16, 2008

Pan-Seared Tilapia with Citrus Vinaigrette Cooking Light, January 2008 This was really good. We've made it twice since I put it up here to make. I usually put the ingredients for the sauce together in the morning. Then when I get home, we pan sear the fish, add the sauce to the pan to let it reduce a little and then pour it over the fish. It's really yummy! Last time, I added more OJ than called for. Measuring cups and spoons Small bowl Large nonstick skillet … [Read more...]

Broiled Tilapia with Tomato-Caper Salsa

March 4, 2008

Broiled Tilapia with Tomato-Caper Salsa Cooking Light, December 2005 We used swordfish instead of tilapia in this recipe. It was really good. The salsa would make for a great bruschetta!! I used fire roasted canned tomatoes instead of fresh. It made for a really great topping with an extra depth of flavor fresh tomatoes this time of year would not have. Measuring cups and spoons Small bowl Broiler pan Spatula … [Read more...]

Tilapia with Vegetables

February 26, 2008

Tilapia with Vegetables sparkrecipes.com This was okay. The fish took WAY longer to cook than in the recipe. I think we needed to add more seasoning. I think you need to juice the lemons over the fish than put the slices on top. The juice didn't seep out of the lemons enough to suite me. It's something to work on, though. Knife Cutting board Sheet pan … [Read more...]

Blackened Tilapia with Salsa and Avocado

February 11, 2008

Blackened Tilapia with Salsa and Avocado Sparkrecipes.com The blackened chicken part was good. The salsa we bought...it was just meh. I think next time, I'd make a mango salsa with fresh mango, some onion, jalapeno and add the avocado to the salsa. It was just a couple of slices on the side...which was okay. Large nonstick skillet Measuring cups and spoons Spatula … [Read more...]
