I'm sorry that happened, but yes I baked mine at 400 F. Maybe your oven temperature is not accurate?

I was really looking forward to having these! I made them and popped them in the oven at 409 degrees as the directions said. 12 minutes later we smelled smoke and came upstairs and the entire house was filled with smoke. These were charred beyond recognition.
Is 400 degrees the correct temperature to bake these at? I had six fans going and opened all the windows and the smoke was still lingering the next day.

That is great to know that they will hold up in the fridge and you can make them ahead of time! I'd love to see how the frozen cooked and uncooked turn out. I'm tickled you enjoyed the recipe. And your homemade jam sounds DELISH!

First I want to say how absolutely delicious these palmiers are!!! I had absolutely no issue with them coming apart or being too large but that could have to due with how tight I rolled them. I purchased butter puff pastry sheets that were square, not very large, and not very thick so I didn’t have to roll them out, just a little touch up to flatten them. I didn’t use all of my homemade orange/fig jam as I was concerned that a whole cup would be too sweet and end up all over the pan as it got hot - oh and I used both sheets of the pastry because as I said they weren’t large. Now the best part - I didn’t have a chance to cook both rolls before we had to head out the door so I tightly wrapped the second one in parchment paper and put it in the fridge. Well 4, yes 4 days later I have just sliced and baked the rest and they look and taste just as good as the first batch! Next time I make them I’m going to try and freeze a few uncooked and cooked pieces and see how they hold up.

Maybe something salty like a Manchego or even Asiago. A smoked Gouda might be nice, too.

These were so easy to make and so delicious! The combination of blue cheese, fig jam and fried onions was a winner! Half way through bake, I rotated pan and pinched together the pinwheels that had started separate.
