So, I ventured into the kitchen to make my own garam masala.  It’s a work in progress.  I will have a version soon pending photographs, but I’m sure I will continue to revisit and update this recipe until I make one that I LOVE!  I didn’t have any garam masala to make this Slow Cooker Chicken Tikki Masala with, so I almost HAD to make my own if I wanted to make this recipe.

And I REALLY wanted to make this recipe. I’ve been seeing picture of tikki masala all over blogs, Pinterest, you name it. I just looks so…DELICIOUS!! How could you NOT want to make this meal? Just look at it’s bright color and creamy texture!!

That deep red color comes from all the tomatoes, the pasta and the paprika.   I just ate, and it’s making me hungry to look at it.  I’m not lying.  Doesn’t it make you hungry?  No?  What’s wrong with you?  KIDDING!

This was even fabulous for lunch the next day.  It was one of those “I can’t wait for lunch” lunches.  I’ve talked about those.  I just ATE one of those lunches.  You’ll just have to wait for #10DaysofTailgate to find out what it was.  Or you can follow me on Instragram and see if you can figure it out.  If you’re not already following me on Instagram, SHAME ON YOU!  KIDDING!  Sheesh…

If you don’t know about #10DaysofTailgate, I suggest you check out the Pinterest board for now and wait until the recipes start rolling in around September 20.  There’s over 100 at last count!!  Oh, and there MAY be giveaways.  Shhh…I didn’t say that.

But, back to this dish.  I had never made anything tikki before.  I mean, I didn’t have a tagine so how could I make a tikki dish?  Well, I thought I could use some artistic interpretations of the “tagine” and use my slow cooker.  It’s been done hundreds of times before, so I felt I was in good company.

We came home to the house smelling AH-mazing!!  I don’t know about you, but I’m addicted to anything middle eastern or Indian in nature as far as spices go.  I would buy GALLONS of a perfume that had cumin, paprika, fennel, coriander, cinnamon as a base.  If you make that, please let me know.  I will buy it!  Honestly, it’s crack for my nose.  When I smell that, I KNOW something delicious is cooking and I’m in for a treat.

This dish IS a treat!  It’s so simple yet so flavorful!  You don’t have to make garam masala; you can buy it at the store, but once you have some it opens a who world of possibilities for traveling from your kitchen.
