June 18, 2013

This is a horrible picture...sorry. Back from visiting Mom this weekend.  The whole thing I surreal.  I don't think it's hit me yet.  I KNOW it hasn't hit me yet.  Come this time next month, my mother will no longer be on the mainland and will have retired to Maui.  Yes.  It's surreal.  I will no longer be able to hop in my car and visit her.  It will take MONTHS and MONTHS of planning to fly to visit her.  It's surreal.   We … [Read more...]

Slow Cooker Mexican Chicken Goulash

March 23, 2013

S is not big on soup for dinner.  I don't know why.  He always says, "Is that all we're having?"  Maybe it's not filling enough for him?  But it IS dinner...and it's the last meal before you sleep.  So, I'm thinking it shouldn't be a HUGE meal anyway, right?  Right?  *shrugs* I told him that morning that I was going to the fitness center.  I'm T.I.R.E.D of the weight I've gained since *steps out of closet* stopped smoking.  THERE!  I said it!!  I wasn't thinking,  didn't change my eating habits, … [Read more...]

Molasses does go bad…and a weekly, pantry cleaning recap

March 11, 2013

Apparently, it does.  Or at least mine did.  I mean, I've had molasses in my cupboard since the dawn of time.  I don't think I've ever had a bottle turn like this one did.  I mean, it was SERIOUSLY bitter.  Like salt mixed with vinegar bitter.  I really should have gone with my gut instincts when I started to pour it, BUT I didn't.  I had a window and wanted to make the best of it.  Yeah...that didn't happen.  I made the worst of it.  I mean the … [Read more...]

Mock-sagna

March 4, 2013

I wanted lasagna but I was tired. So, I threw together a Mock-sagna.  What's mock-sagna?  Well, it's a wanna be lasagna, but without all the structure of real lasagna.

The Weekly Recap…and pantry cleaning update

February 25, 2013

In my effort to try to step up my blog posts, I thought I would try to start a weekly recap.  *shrugs*  Hopefully I can keep this up.  If not, I'll be like one of those hundreds of blogs that just fall off the radar due to life.  This blog isn't a monetary thing for me...it's - I don't know what it is.  A catalyst to make me be more creative in the kitchen as opposed to simply following recipes?  Yeah, that sounds good!  LOL Ah yes...hamburgers at … [Read more...]

Ravioli Tortellini and Gnocchi…OH MY!

October 24, 2012

I LOVE pasta.  Any and all kinds of pasta.  How is it that I RARELY if EVAH use these types of pasta??  There's a whole genre of pasta just screaming for me to devour create something with them.  Soups, casseroles, simple pasta dishes.  Store bought or make my own (I hear wonton wrappers are a decent alternative to making your own ravioli).  The possibilities are endless!!  Tomato sauce, cream sauce, toss with browned butter, and chocolate sauce?  … [Read more...]
