FitsMeApp Fits Your Lifestyle – A New Food
Many of you might have caught on, some maybe not so much, but DD (Dear Dad) and DSM (Dear Step-Mom) are both following a low carb diet. More power to them. I love my carbs WAY too much to do that. I think I’d have withdrawal. This combined with the simple fact that they pretty much buy whatever they want and need makes it difficult to give them gifts. “How so?” you ask? Well, since they can and do buy whatever they want and need, I tend to lean more towards hand made gifts. I’ve gone the scarf … [Read more...]
Celebrating Cinco de Mayo the AKHA Way!
Image credit Crossfit Haboob Monday is Cinco de Mayo! It's not usually something we celebrate in the AKHA household. Granted, we have tequila. I may whip up a margarita or two. Just have to see how I feel after our trip this weekend. We're going to Rickett's Glen. It boasts 22 waterfalls in their short, 3.2m hiking loop. Granted it's like 1100 feet down then 1100 feet up. Ever 1000 feet is like a mile? So it's really 6 miles? Something like that. Anyway. We have always made meals from … [Read more...]

Fresh Florida Salsa!
This post brought to you by Fresh From Florida. All opinions are 100% mine. Recently, it was doing this outside: Granted, this was mild compared to other parts of the country, but it's pretty cold for this part of town. I had to dress like an Eskimo to walk Missy in the mornings. Even with two pairs of gloves on, my fingers were still cold when we got back home. It's just been colder than cold here. Temperatures this low explains why so many go to Florida for Winter … [Read more...]
2013 Top Ten Posts – MANY Surprises!
Last year about this time, I was still blogging about recipes tried and not recipes made. Then I got a bee up my bonnet (there's that saying again) and wanted to take Mum Lowe's Christmas Pudding and turn them into cupcakes. They were pretty good cupcakes, too. Then in January, I was contacted to participate in a cheese survey and market testing on packaging. Part of that was the follow the cheese; from inception, to purchase, to use and finally to eat. I caught the … [Read more...]
