Gastronomique Tour de Colombia v2.5

February 14, 2013

Dinner?  I went to the cevicheria up the street.  Wow.  I'm slacking.  I will need to look that up tonight when I head out for dinner.  It was interesting.  The waiter didn't speak English.  And my Spanglish isn't so great sometimes.  He asked me something at one point and all I recognized was trabajando.  Or at least it was something similar to that.  Correction my Spanglish is downright horrible.... I ordered a mojito.  Yeah.  I was … [Read more...]

Gastronomique Tour de Colombia v2.3

February 13, 2013

Soooooo, today I am TOTALLY by myself today.  My bubble isn't that big and I am not sure how far I should wander.  I got my days mixed up and thought V was going to pick me up today and play tourist with me.  Not so much.  I have a loaner phone, but there's an error message in Spanish?  At least I THINK there's an error message as the phone call didn't go through.  Maybe it was voicemail?  I honestly have NO CLUE.  *note to self find out about Rosetta … [Read more...]

Gastronomique Tour de Colombia v2.2

February 10, 2013

Today I'm on my own for lunch and dinner.  L flew to Miami and A and D don't fly in until Sunday.  True to my hermit self, I work through lunch and just get a sammy from the shop in the cafeteria. I ordered roast beef on pan winzer.  Not a clue what pan winzer is...I think it was like a wheat bread?  I honestly couldn't really taste much of it.  The mustard was too spicy.  LOL.  Now, I'm not sure you can see in this picture, but this was not deli roast beef … [Read more...]

Gastronomique Tour de Colombia v2.1

February 10, 2013

At some point, I will get to photograph the mountains.  Hopefully this weekend I can see them.  It's rained every day this week.  *sigh*  Speaking of which... We had a meeting at 1.  Neither of us had lunch by the time the meeting rolled around and this woman just wanted to explain everything in detail...from a large binder...full of MANY papers.  *bangs head on desk*  So, we were STAHVING when we left.  We headed to Crepes and Waffles.  L was … [Read more...]

Gastronomique Tour de Colombia v2.0

February 9, 2013

I miss my kitchen.  I don't understand how people can live like this!!  I long for the feel of a knife in my hand, the smells of something baking in the oven.  *sigh*  But most of all I miss S and our furbaby!  *pout* Being as I know what I eat for dinner is probably not something lowfat and low cal, I have been eating breakfasts like this: Yes, I believe that is Fiber One olde skool.  But I am LOVING the variety of fresh fruits for breakfast.  I would eat … [Read more...]

Hola de Colombia

February 6, 2013

Early January, work tells me that I will need to travel to Colombia to help with a FY2013 budget either the end of January or the beginning of February. Me, "Can it be more towards February? I don't want to be in Colombia for my birthday." So, here I sit...in Colombia...without a kitchen to cook in. My mouth - no matter how much water I drink - feels like a salt lick. I have two weeks of this. *sigh* Can I just say...altitude sickness is HORRID!  I was expecting something, but WAS.NOT … [Read more...]
