Grilled Pepper, Onion, and Sausage Calzones

July 13, 2009

Grilled Pepper, Onion, and Sausage Calzones Cooking Light, July 2009 I made the pizza dough recipe I already posted and put half in the freezer for this recipe. I didn't grill the sausage or the vegetables. I don't think we have enough gas to grill much of anything right now and I'm too lazy to get a refill. *snort* I bought the Shady Brook farm sweet Italian sausage. It's pretty tasty and not too turkey for me. I scored the skins and then slow cooked them in a skillet. When they were done, … [Read more...]

Bavarian Sausage-and-Kraut Supper

December 7, 2008

Bavarian Sausage-and-Kraut Supper Cooking Light, December 1999 So, I'm guessing you drain the kraut so the whole dish isn't so kraut-y. It's similar to a dish we usually make in the crock pot, but we put potatoes in the bottom, then the sausage, then the kraut on top. It was good. I'm sure we'll make this again. We served it with potatoes because for some reason I picked dishes this week that all have egg noodles in them. Don't ask my why. It's a pasta week or something. Measuring cups and … [Read more...]

Italian Turkey Sausage with Three Peppers

November 9, 2008

Italian Turkey Sausage with Three Peppers Cooking Light, November 2004 It's turkey sausage with peppers. What else can I tell ya. We used the Shady Brook Farms turkey sausage because it was on sale. We didn't add the vinegar. It might have tasted a little more different with balsamic vinegar, but CTM has something with vinegar. It's a hate relationship. *snort* Measuring cups and spoons Knife Cutting board Large nonstick skillet … [Read more...]

Roasted Sausages with Beer-Braised Onions

April 8, 2008

Roasted Sausages with Beer-braised Onions Sunset, October 2002 Well, we didn't exactly follow the recipe. We had Shady Brook turkey brats that weren't already cooked, so I added them to the pan with the onions. When the onions were dine, we took them out and let the brats finish cooking. We argued over not having buns. I didn't think he was a big bun person, but apparently with sausages he has to have buns. *snort* We used New Castle Brown Ale because the store didn't have singles of … [Read more...]

Pasta Jambalaya

March 10, 2008

Pasta Jambalaya Cooking Light, March 1998 This didn't have enough sausage to suite me. I would slice it into thin slices and then slice those slices in half to spread the 7 oz out more throughout the pasta. I'd add WAY more cajun spices and more onions and peppers. It made for a really good lunch the following day, though. So, you might want to make this ahead of time and then reheat it for dinner. Stock pot Knife Cutting board Measuring cups and spoons Large nonstick skillet Large … [Read more...]

Jambalaya

January 18, 2008

Jambalaya Cooking Light, DECEMBER 2004 Well, the best intentions... I had planned on making this in the crock pot. Somehow, the crock pot came unplugged so when I got home Thursday, a little early from work, I put it on the Dutch oven to cook. It was YUMMY! I made some short grain brown rice to go with it. Made for a very filling and hearty meal!! Knife Cutting board Measuring cups and spoons Dutch oven Tongs Wooden spoon … [Read more...]

Sausage and Peppers

January 10, 2008

Sausage and Peppers Cooking Light, JANUARY 2003 Yes, that's exactly what it was...sausage and peppers. We used the Shady Brook Farms hot Italian sausage. YUM! There's not enough sauce, or the sauce we used was too thick. It was rather filling with all the peppers in it. I would have added some onions to the mix, too, but I may leave that for next time we make it. Knife Cutting board Measuring cups and spoons Large nonstick pan … [Read more...]

Mustard-Spiced Cabbage and Cannellini Beans with Sausage

January 2, 2008

Mustard-Spiced Cabbage and Cannellini Beans with Sausage Cooking Light, MARCH 1999 We forgot the cannellini beans. It needed WAY more mustard than called for. I couldn't hardly taste the mustard when all was said and done. We also added twice the amount of sausage, which I wouldn't recommend. It was just WAY too much meat. Next time we make this, I think I'm going to add some dry mustard powder to the mix for more mustard flavor. Knife Cutting board Measuring cups and spoons Stock … [Read more...]
