Filet with Crabéarnaise

Filet with Crabéarnaise is a mashup of my favorite meal; crab cake and filet with béarnaise.  I've put the crab in the béarnaise for an amazing sauce to top tender filet mignon.  Don't let the béarnaise fool you! It's simple to prepare and oh so delicious. … [Read more...]

15 Healthy Rice Bowls

December 29, 2017

The New Year is just around the corner. Here are some Healthy Rice Bowls to start your year off right with a healthier you!   I don’t know about you, but after the holidays I feel like eating lettuce.  Just lettuce.  Which is sort of boring, but after eating all the cookies, pies, meats, gravies, and my fill of mashed potatoes I need to do something to lower the scale.   Now, if you’re a reader of my blog, then you know I’m a total #carbhoor.  I don’t shy away from … [Read more...]

Spice Rubs for Holiday Roasts and Steaks

December 14, 2017

A rub can add amazing flavor to even your every day roasts and steaks. I’m sharing some spice rubs for holiday roasts and steaks from some of my friends.   There are traditional meats we ate at certain holidays.  Turkey at Thanksgiving; that’s a no brainer.  We have ham for New Year’s and Easter.  Only because black eyes peas don’t really go with anything else but ham.  Then there’s Christmas.   Now, when I was growing up, we used to have ham and turkey for Christmas.  That’s only because we … [Read more...]

Steak Diane

August 22, 2009

Click here for recipe Cooking Light, July 2005 I've never had steak diane before, so I didn't know what to expect. It was pretty good. Really good, even. I don't know what the big deal is about this dish because it was really easy to make and didn't take too long to cook. This is a recipe I will DEFINITELY make again. It was even good for left over lunch. We served it with Rosemary Roasted Potato Wedges. Measuring cups and spoons Knife Cutting board Large skillet (preferrably cast … [Read more...]

Grilled Flank Steak with Tomato, Avocado, and Cucumber Salad

May 28, 2009

Grilled Flank Steak with Tomato, Avocado, and Cucumber Salad recipe Cooking Light, May 2007 This was simple and tasty. We had it last night and I roasted some zucchini to go with the meal. We used london broil instead of flank steak as it's cheaper. I juiced about three small limes for the marinade which made the outside of the london broil very tangy. The salad was pretty filling, but as usual, I didn't add the cilantro. *spitting* It was sort of guacamole-ish, but without the creaminess. … [Read more...]
