Jetting to MN for the Weekend!

September 5, 2015

Jetting to MN for the Weekend! We went to Mall of America, the Minnesota State Fair, and Como Zoo and Conservatory.     My mom step-dad flew us to Minnesota for the weekend. I’m sure they would have preferred it be longer than that, but between the hubs’ job and mine, we just couldn’t. Heck, at this point any time I get to spend with my mother is cherished. So, a weekend?  Hell yeah!   “Why Minnesota,” you ask? Well, her mother, my grandmother, was from that … [Read more...]

More Antiques and a Disappointing Last Meal

December 29, 2014

After our antique shopping Friday, the spa treatments and the fabulous dinner, we were reluctant to check out. BUT we were to head home Saturday; planning to spend the night some place in Pennsylvania on the way home. We knew we wouldn’t make it all the way home because we planned on hitting several antique stores (or one to two LARGE stores) on the way home. As it stands, we hit several smaller antique stores Saturday and Sunday.  We awoke with a plan and a map.  Since we're early risers, we … [Read more...]

Wine on Third – Perfect for Our Anniversary Dinner

December 28, 2014

Wine on Third - Perfect for Our Anniversary Dinner I wanted to find the perfect place for our first anniversary dinner. I didn’t search before we arrived. I left it up to Yelp, Foursquare, and other social media review sites to guide me. I mentioned one place to S and he didn’t seem all that enthused. It sounded interesting to me, but since he didn’t seem impressed, I continued looking. What was that place, you ask? Well, the Niagara Culinary Institute has a restaurant. It’s called Savor … [Read more...]

Antiquing and White Linen Tea House

December 27, 2014

White Linen Tea House is a hidden gem in upstate New York. We are antiquers. We have started collecting Early American Pressed Glass by Anchor Hocking. It’s pretty, it’s reasonable, and you can find most pieces all over the place. We’re still on the look out for the oil lamp. Just sayin. We hit several antique stores in the area on our trip. We got up earlier than the rest of the city, obviously, and hit the road in search of deals and steals! There are several antique stores in the … [Read more...]

Old Fort Niagara

December 26, 2014

Old Fort Niagara, gorgeous views and full of history! No, this isn’t day two. This is the second part of the first full day we were in Niagara. We headed to the Old Fort Niagara, which has a rich history! It also plays a pivotal part in U.S., British, and French history. Being a pivotal piece of property at the mouth of the Atlantic that is fed by the Great Lakes and their connecting straights, Fort Niagara changed hands a few times between the three countries. I won’t bore you with all the … [Read more...]

Niagara Falls

December 23, 2014

The hubs and I head to Niagara NY for our anniversary. Here's what we saw, where we ate, and what we did! S and I have been married for over a year now. We recently celebrated our anniversary and hit the road to Niagara Falls, NY. I have a passport for work, but S doesn’t have one at all, so we kept it state side, which is just fine for us! I honestly think it made for a more relaxing and wonderful long weekend. We hit the road early that morning and got stuck in – shocker – traffic … [Read more...]

The Fog

November 30, 2013

It rolled in.  We had seen it before for a little bit last week, but this time, the weather wasn't supposed to change.  Rainy and chilly the rest of the week.  Great.  When I heard this along with the memories of a conversation previously about the weather rolling in and not rolling out quickly like it does at home, N decided we should head out before we got stuck here. We made leaps and bounds of progress the first week we were there, that N didn't feel it necessary for … [Read more...]
