Summer is just around the corner.  Can you feel it?  It’s getting hotter, TV shows are in their season ending episodes, baseball is upon us, and it’s just getting hotter!!  I hate heat.  But, you know that.  I can’t stand the hot, humid weather that we have in this area.  It just makes me want to melt!!

So, what’s a girl to do when it’s sweltering and there’s nothing but reruns and baseball on television?  Well, that’s where Walmart Family Mobile has me covered!!  Wait, what?  You don’t know that Walmart has a pay as you go family mobile?  Oh, well, let me school ya, now that school is out.

You head to your local Walmart to purchase a cool smart phone and a Starter Kit.  Then you activate the phone and your plan.  Then, you head to VUDU and pick out a fun summer movie in the comfort of your own home.  For $49.88 a month you get unlimited talk, text, and up to 10GB of 4G LTE data.  PLUS you get one VUDU movie (a $7 value) every month per line.  Air conditioner, popcorn, and popular movies your whole family can enjoy is right at your fingertips.  Summertime problems solved!!

My top five movies to catch up on this summer?  Well, that’s easy.  I’m revisiting some old favorites in anticipation of sequels coming out this year!!  So, that means X-Men: Days of Future Past before the next X-Men movie comes out.  Yes, I’m a total geek for movies.  We used to watch X-Men when I was in college…as a cartoon…on Saturday. What?  Don’t judge!!  Next on the list is Star Wars: The Force Awakens.  To say I’m SUPER EXCITED to have the new movie trailer to watch repeatedly and memorize the lines is an understatement.  Like you’ve never done that.  #TRUTH

The next one on our list is Alice in Wonderland.  Well, I should say MY list.  The hubs just doesn’t get into those movies like I do.  Then again, I’m a total Tim Burton freak – I mean, FAN, since the first movie he released.  I think it was the Danny Elfman component that hooked me.  I was a HUGE Oingo Boing fan.  See.  I’m totally showing my geek side right now.  I’m also excited for the Ghostbusters movie to come out, so that’s going on the list to re-watch the cult classic films.  I mean, who doesn’t love a little slime??  The last movie on our top five list is Now You See Me.  Those illusions were just so grandiose!  I can’t wait to see what they have in the sequel coming out this summer.

Now, for those of you that don’t want to sit in the comfort of your air conditioner all summer, the 10GB of 4G LTE can help you get to where you’re going this summer.  Directions to your vacay spot?  Got ya covered!  Download one of those popular GPS aps and you can get there easily.  Heading to the beach?  A weather ap can make sure you’ve got sunshine for the whole trip.  Off to some mountain hiking?  Download a trail map to follow so you don’t get lost.

And speaking of getting lost, if we didn’t have the extra data for the trail maps and GPS, we might still be wandering around in the wilds of Northern Virginia.  On more than one occasion, we have been following what we thought was the trail only to find out on our phone that we are no longer on the trail and wandering aimlessly in the wilderness.  Well, at least the “wilds” of Manassas Battlefield Park.  Those trail markers are almost non-existent!!  We backtracked several times on that hike.  And the one by the canal in Great Falls?  Damned near impossible to follow without a GPS trail map.  It’s insane!  So, having those extra gigs of data really makes hiking much safer for us.

Then, there’s cabins like the one we rented several years ago.  It was definitely secluded!  There wasn’t any cable.  There was a VCR, but it had ancient movies that no one really wanted to watch.  So, what did we do for a week?  Well, we fished in the private pond and we reverted to puzzles.  PUZZLES of all things!  If we had a Walmart Family Mobile phone and some VUDU movies, we could have had a relaxing, less boring, fund filled vacation.  And, with 10GB of data, I’m sure we could have downloaded any number of movies and shows to watch that week.

At home, we have one of those fancy schmancy smart TVs that we can play the movie on right from the phone or our computer!!  That is mind blowing!  My Samsung TV will mirror my Samsung phone.  Sometimes it’s a little sensitive and doesn’t work which is okay because we have Chromemcast to back it up.  I can play (or cast) anything on my phone to my television with the Chromecast ap on my phone and the Chromecast device plugged into my TV.  Granted, the Chromecast device costs extra, but for us it’s totally worth it.

Since we are big TV watchers, we will thoroughly enjoy the free movie every month.  We don’t go to the movies.  The last one we went to was the guardians of the galaxy one?  I can’t even remember the name of the movie.  I mean, we waited until Star Wars came out on DVD to watch it.  Have you been to the movies recently?  You have to take out a small personal loan!  Tickets are at least $30.  Popcorn and drinks are at least $25.  That’s $55 for two for a couple of hours of entertainment.  That’s just CRAZY!  Not to mention the popcorn being salt laden and covered in that fake butter oil stuffs.  Ick.

For us, we’d rather stay home, watch movies from the comfort of our home, and nibble on our air popped popcorn, non-flat soda, and real butter on the popcorn.  That’s a date night I’d prefer.  But, that means we have to wait until the movies we want to watch are available on those other, online, movie places which takes FOREVER!  Or wait until they come out on DVD.  But, not anymore!  With the Walmart Family Mobile plan and free VUDU movie rental, we can watch hit movies sometimes before they come out on DVD!  It’s a total WIN WIN for us.

What’s another win is how, compared to other carriers, Walmart Family Mobile fits in any budget.  My out of pocket expense on this plan was completely affordable compared to others!  I simply had to purchase a starter kit for $19.88 and a compatible phone.  In my area, the phones ranged from $19.99 to $179.00 with a range of styles, features, and sizes.  Once I had my starter kit and my phone activated I was on my way to unlimited talk, text, 10GB of data, and a free VUDU movie.  The best part is my bill is only $49.88 a month!

You see what I mean?  I can have VUDU play the movie on my phone play and have my new Walmart Family Mobile phone play on my TV.  I can log into VUDU on my laptop or computer and have it play on my TV.  Yup.  We were catching up on some Game or Thrones this weekend.   I know.  Not a movie, but definitely viewable on my phone and the VUDU ap or site.  This new Walmart Family Mobile phone has opened a whole new world of entertainment for us.

Another great feature of the Walmart Family Mobile plan is the ease and convenience of being able to view my balance and pay my bill online.  If I had additional lines, I could set security for these phones.  If I had kids, and well I do have a one big one, I could make sure they don’t get into any trouble or view content that’s not appropriate for them with limits and controls.  I can add more data, if needed, add more lines for other family members; there’s so much ease and convenience with their online services.  Because, if you know me, I do NOT like to talk to people on the phone if I can help it!

So, head out Walmart and check out their Walmart Family Mobile phones and plans.  Then plop down on the couch with your family and watch your VUDU movie!  What movies are on your top 5 to see this summer?
