Top Ten Posts from A Kitchen Hoor’s Adventures

So, I’m jupming on the top ten bandwagon.  I did one last year and was like, Oookay.  That was interesting.  But this year, I’m doing something a little different.  I’m only counting down the top ten of 2015 posts; not of all time.  Though, I will throw in the honorable mentions from some 2014 posts.

This year at AKHA, I jumped into some big blogger panties.  Since I started participating in the #SundaySupper Movement, I’ve been selected to participate in some opportunities that paid me for my posts.  Huge shout out to Isabel, Renee, and the rest of the Sunday Supper Movement team!  Love y’all!!

Because of their efforts in promoting my little blog, I earned enough to not only move from Blogger to WordPress but I also bought (rent) my domain name.  The hubs said to me this week, “If you BUY your domain name, how come you have to pay for it every year?”  That’s a very good question!  Why is that?  When I buy some jeans I don’t have to pay for them again in two years.  I may have to buy new jeans in two years because I’m paying for all the good food I’ve been cooking up in poundage, but that’s a whole other post.

I started participating in the #FoodieFriDIY link ups with Michelle, Jenny, and crew.  These two ladies in particular truly did skool me in how to monitor my SEO, cull my Pinterest boards and how to strategically pin, how to stumble posts with the best results, and tips for trying to beat the Facebook algorithm changes.  They are some seriously smart cookies!

The traffic brought to my blog from all this promoting landed me a spot in Social Fabric.  YAY!  More paid posts!  So, between the Sunday Supper Movement, Linquia, and Social Fabric, I earned enough money to purchase tickets to the Food and Wine Conference.  Seriously, if you haven’t bought your tickets, you really should.  It’s THE BEST conference for bloggers.  And I’m super excited because 1 – it’ll be my first blog conference and 2 – I’ll get to meet my extended Sunday Supper family!!  I just know tears of joy will be shed.

I’m continuing to learn and grow and get better.  I know you can see that from the pics.  I mean, here’s one of the first posts I put out there when I first started blogging seriously and not just reviewing recipes.

I’m so embarassed by those older photos.  I can’t believe I have come so far in almost three years of writing on this little blog of mine.  That cheesecake was amazing, though.  I should make another one this weekend since I overcooked the cookies and cream one for Christmas.

This is the last dessert I made.  See the difference?  A version of this was posted and accepted to Foodgawker!  Yeah, I know.  It’s only the second submission.  I don’t photograph for them, but if take a photo that I think will get accepted, I try for it.  It’s a perfect example of how far I’ve come with this little blog of mine.

And, thanks to all of these people who have supported me, taught me, and encouraged me to continue with my food blogging I continue to improve both in writing, photography, and recipes.

Now, on to what you, dear readers, have loved about my recipes this year!!  Like I said, I concentrated on recipes written in 2015 on this round up.  But, I’ll sneak a few fan faves in there, too.

10 – Butterless Slow Cooker Butter Chicken – Seriously.  Who doesn’t love them some Bollywood and a huge plate of this flavorful chicken dish?

9 – Italian Pressed Sandwich – Too hot in the kitchen?  This sandwich is the perfect solution!

8 – Pea and Ricotta Carbonara – One of my many #meatfree dishes that was oh so delicious.

7 – Hot Hamburger Hoagie – My husband’s favorite dish turned into a tasty sandwich

6 – Kicked Up Coleslaw – The hubs said this was the best coleslaw EVER!

5 – Waffled Potato Pancakes Bites – One of many #SundaySupper sponsored posts.  Love me some Idaho Potatoes!

4 – Pumpkin Chai Baked Donuts – Part of the #PumpkinWeek event hosted by Love and Confections.

3 – Blue Cheese, Fig, and Caramelized Onion Palmiers – My first #SundaySupper sponsored post for Gallo Family Vineyards!  They are AWESOME!

2 – Broccoli Pesto Pasta – This sounds weird but trust me when I tell you that it was AMAZING!  If you like broccoli, it’s all delicious and creamy good in this pesto.  I should make this again…

And, now for the most popular post for 2015….. *drum roll*

Creamy and Cheesy Broccoli Chicken and Rice

TA DA!  It’s the Cheesy Broccoli Chicken & Rice!  I had no idea that this would receive the most hits this year.  It was pretty darned delicious, if I do say so myself!!  I think I DO need to put this on the menu again this year.  It was fabutastic!  All that hearty chicken, crisp broccoli, creamy cheese, and that Parmesan garnish.  Oh yeah.  I’m drooling.  Aren’t you?  How can you not be drooling?

So, I teased some honorable mentions for this year.  These posts are from 2014, but have made the top ten this year of all time posts.  Gotta give a shout out to these cra-mazing posts:

Homemade Tuscan spice mix gift from the kitchen

I’m out of this Tuscan spice spice mix.  I should get in the kitchen and whip up a batch.  It’s so good!  Sprinkle it on chicken and grill it.  Sprinkle it on pork and stick it in the slow cooker with some roasted tomato sauce.  Oh yeah baby.  This is the shiz.

slow cooker sourdough bread

I had never made bread in my slow cooker before.  But y’all know how much I love love LOVE my slow cooker.  I use it at least once a week.

hot pepper jelly on top of cream cheese and cracker

Shout out my Kentucky peeps!  This is a family recipe from Nana and I just love it.  It’s perfect any time for a quick nibble, tailgate snack, or game day appetizer.  Keep a few jars in the pantry, some cream cheese, and Ritz crackers and you’re golden!

Now, this year, I promise even more bigger and better things.  Yes, I realize that sentence sucked grammatically, but I don’t care!  What I do care about is what else you’d like to see or read from AKHA in 2016.  Drop a comment or two letting me know what you’d like to see more or less of next year and I’ll do what I can to make it happen!

I will, after reading this Pinch of Yum fail post that had me literally laughing out loud in the car on the way home this week (the hubs even laughed when I read some of it to him in the car), take photos of my fails and post them at least once a year.  I’ve had some doosies.  Like, one bite and order pizza doosies.  Thankfully the hubs loves me to death or I’m sure we’d probably be divorced over a few of them.  Yeah.  That bad.

Happy New Year top ten post

And, with that I wish you all a very Happy New Year!  I hope you were able to kick back, drink some bubble, and kiss the ones you love at midnight.  For me, it was the Missy girl.  The hubs worked until 3:30am.  Yay security job.
